8 Years? Really?? You Sure??

Can it really be 8 years? 8 years since I first held my beauitful daughter, saw her tiny nose and snuggled her to my chest? 8 Years since I spent 27 hours in pain and would do it again just to have her.

The years have flown by, she isnt my little girl anymore. She isnt going to want to snuggle like she use to in a thunder storm, be scared of the dark, giggle when I say a dirty word. She will be grown before I know it, I am not so sure I am ready for that! We have 18 years to shape and raise our children and while that seems like a long time, it isnt nearly long enough!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful, talanted, incredibly smart, exceedingly beautiful, redneck, princess, indenpent, charming daughter. I know I am 4 days early but I wanted to say it early

Mud boots & Church

Recently my daughter dressed up all frilly like in a real pretty dress, had a bow in her hair and to top off her church emsamble....her bright green mud boots.

While I was perfectly fine with her wearing them to church my mother hit the roof! She not being much a southern bell sure knows how to "swoon" like one and become extremly dramtic. She was worried about what others would think of her, and that people would think she was poor. WHO CARES!! She kept saying "that not her sunday best", ok we all were OUR best to church on sunday. Who said that was the rule? Who decides "Our Best", is there some Joan Rivers of church atire standing out side of church reporting what is acceptable or not? Is there a best and worst dressed of church member" OUR best is what it is personally to us, if my daughter is perfectly fine in her mud boot and she sees that as HER best, whos to judge?

I dont want my daughter to conform to what socity thinks is best, the latest fashion, what others believe of her. I want her to keep her indenpendt mind, individual personality and "Southern" style. I dont want someone telling her that she isnt beautiful or accepted because choose boots to heels. I dont want her to give up a part of who she is (because shes pretty awesome) to conform to what others think is "best" for church.

To wrap it up, I guess I just wanted to put it out there that my daughter is special, wonderful and ACCEPTABLE for who she is EXACTLY the way she is!! She is my "Redneck Princess" who is 50% Princess & 50% All Country Redneck. With that deadly combo she combines both into her speech, clothes and thoughts. She has the biggest heart and want to save the world....now why in the hell would I want to change any of that? Let her wear her mud boots...I am sure our Heavely Father is ok with it, I mean he did make her to be who she is...and he made her in his own image and gave her her unique sense of style....Who are we to judge?

Valentines Day...Myth or Reality

Growing up we all belived that there was a prince charming and every valentines day was going to be special, thrilling and everthing we have seen on movies and in books.

Well I have to say I have lived my life and dated enough to know Prince Charming... well thats a Myth! No matter how great the guy, situation or life happily ever after dont exhist... at least in the real world. They will let you down, leave their underwear on the bathroom floor, fart in the car and lock all the windows, they will forget an important event, you will get stuck in traffic, be poor, have a dirty house, your kids wont always mind and will embarress you in public.

So its more beauty is in the eye of the holder, not beer holder but eye holder. LOL Sorry had to put that in there.

While others see failure in a life, the person living it sees a life well lived, loved and nearly perfect.

So this day remember that not everything in life is perfect...its life. Messy, unpredictable and does not come with an instruction manual. Its hard, funny, unfair and above all yours. So make it yours...make today what you want it to be.

Love,
Sleeping Beauty.....LOL

Strong Willed Child - Dr. Dobson

So I will admit I am a strong willed child raising a strong willed child whos grandmothers (all of them ) are strong willed women. I feel as though some days I am beating my head against a wall!! I love my sweet, wonderful, caring, senentive strong willed child.

I know my Child is going to wonderful and great things in life and I know the things she does will only benefit others and not her self (thats just who she is) and I cant wait to see what those awesome things are. Have you just ever know something and you cant exactly say or describe how you know this but you know that that something in ever cell of your body? Well I cant say how I know it, or why I do or how I feel it but I know that my girl Chandler is destined for great and wonderful things and will change many lives for the better with those things. I just know it! I have know since the moment she looked at me in the hospital, I looked down at that wonderful qupie doll face and knew that I was holding a girl who God created just for me and the plans He had for her would be beyond my wildest dreams. I just knew she was a fighter and she would survive and beat all the odd. She is the girl who loves to prove people wrong, she is as indenpent as the day is long and hard headed to the same length. I know thats alot to aquire in our first few moments of her life, but I looked into her face and saw God and knew that she was who she was for his purpose and design. Sitting her writing this I realize that Mary must have felt the same way the first moement she laid her eyes on her sleeping baby Jesus...DO NOT confuse what I am saying, I am NOT saying Chandler is the next Messiah or the next Coming, what I AM saying is that as moms we just know that our kids are special and we just know that God has an awesome plan and we just know and can feel relaxed that its all in His hands.

While reading Dr. Dobsons book on strong willed children I realized ( through his book) that my girl is strong willed for a reason, she needs that strong will to achive her goals and become who God intends for her to be, she needed that strong will to thrive and survive the first few days of life. She needs that now to be who God plans her to bed, its a GIFT not a Hinderance! It needs to be reigned in a little, not stomped, squashed, stopped or break her spirit!!! While being a strong willed child can have its moments, and object authority or reasoning, that is why it needs to be reigned in and teach her the ability to control it to some degree. Its like giving you a medical license you cant doctor people with out the knowledge behind the degree.

I dont exactly know the purose of this blog...I am just reading Dr. Dobsons book and really enjoying it and I guess thought I would share.

Once a Month Cooking... Every two weeks...Actually

At half priced books I picked up a cook book called "Once a Month Cooking" it talks about preparing meals every two weeks and placing them in the freezer to be used the day of cooking.

Well it sounded like an awesome idea...so I picked out 10 recipies and decided i would give this a try, I bought all the stuff and got into the kitchen spent two hours and did this. Its really simple you take the chicken recipies and all the supplies needed for them. You place the chicken in the ziplock baggie (after you have labled it, I suggest putting the page number on the bag two or the cooking directions) and all the stuff that makes it yummy, close it up and put it in the freezer and on too the next. Then you do your beef, pork and seafood. So for two hours I did this, prepared 10 nights of meals. I sit down and did the math on time and money being spent and if they turn out good this will be something I look at doing every month, maybe not for the hole month but for a good portion of it.

I made the Beef Pot Roast last night and oh let me tell you....yummo!! I have never made a good pot roast but last nights has become my fav recipe so far...omg it was so freaking good. I think I am going to like this Onece a Month Cooking.

Below are the to the cook books...they are cheap and well worth a try.
